The Origin Story: Why We Started Anoki

Anoki means “unique” in Hindi, and that’s exactly the experience we set out to create for every user on CTV—an experience as distinct as the individual watching. In the past, television was a communal activity, a shared experience where families and friends gathered around to watch the same shows. Today, TV has transformed into something deeply personal. Even within a single household, viewing habits vary widely—each person immersed in their own world of content. Despite this shift, most CTV services have merely digitized the traditional linear TV experience, offering the same recommendations, the same channel lineups, and even the same ad creatives to everyone.

We founded Anoki to change that.

Anoki’s mission is to harness the power of AI to craft a truly unique, deeply personal streaming experience for every user. (Fittingly, "Anoki" starts and ends with AI!) Behind the scenes, our AI works tirelessly, learning every nuance of the user’s TV habits: the shows they watch, when they watch certain genres, how different household members interact with the same device, and even the surprises they enjoy. This intelligent, adaptive approach culminated in Anoki's FAST experience, which we launched as LiveTVx on Google TV.

For ad-supported streaming to thrive, the advertising experience must be just as personalized. Viewers should find the ads they see relevant and engaging, while advertisers need confidence that their messages reach the right person at the right time. Achieving this balance begins with understanding what the user is watching. To do this, we developed a multi-modal video contextual analysis product capable of analyzing videos at a scene level and generating metadata that previously didn’t exist. From this innovation came ContextIQ, a tool that empowers advertisers to identify the perfect moment for their ads.

But we didn’t stop there. Beyond context, we asked: What should the ad experience feel like? Should every household see the same ad repeatedly, or could ads also be tailored to each individual? With advancements in generative video AI, this vision is becoming a reality. Imagine an ad creative that adapts in real-time to reflect who the user is, their mood, location, or the content they’re watching. Enter AdMagic. Though still in its early stages, AdMagic is already turning heads, showcasing the immense potential of personalized, dynamic ad experiences.

Two years ago, Anoki AI’s founding team envisioned a future where AI would fundamentally transform CTV, revolutionizing how viewers discover content and how brands connect with audiences. This vision led to the creation of Anoki AI, with a mission to personalize and elevate every aspect of the CTV experience—for viewers, advertisers, and content providers alike.

Fast forward to early 2025, and the momentum we’ve built is nothing short of extraordinary. Nowhere was this more evident than at CES 2025, where Anoki’s innovations captured the attention of leading publishers, advertisers, and technology partners. Partners were particularly excited by our ability to seamlessly integrate cutting-edge AI capabilities into their existing ecosystems, driving both personalization and measurable results. The enthusiasm at CES validated our mission and reaffirmed the industry’s hunger for transformative solutions.

What to Watch: Where We’re Focused for 2025

As we move into 2025, we're witnessing the dawn of an even more profound transformation in CTV. AI is advancing rapidly, with the combination of multimodal and agentic AI unlocking new levels of personalization, engagement, and transparency for all stakeholders. Viewers, advertisers, and content providers each have unique needs, but they are interconnected in ways that allow improvements in one area to elevate the entire ecosystem. This virtuous cycle is accelerating as the shift from linear television to CTV gains momentum.

For Anoki, 2025 is all about building partnerships across the CTV landscape to drive these transformative experiences. By partnering with publishers, we aim to provide deeper insights into their content and audiences, enabling them to reach the right viewers and place the right ads seamlessly within their content. Collaboration with SSPs and DSPs ensures that this rich data flows freely across ad systems without being locked in walled gardens. Additionally, we are working with marketers to craft compelling narratives that reach consumers in the right context, mood, and setting.
